Serving those outside of our church is an important tenant of our faith and an integral part of our church life. We believe that how we treat others is viewed by God as how we treat Jesus. We also believe that God can use simple acts to change the world in big ways. We invite you to join us in transforming our community and the world. 

SEASONAL EVENTS

Community Blessing Boxes and the Clearing House

We frequently have special collections, like our Lenten "30 pieces of silver" project, so we can support the Community Blessing Boxes and the Clearing House.

Operation Christmas Child (OCC)

Operation Christmas Child is an international project of Samaritan’s Purse that provides local partners around the world with shoe boxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our church is a collection site for boxes as well as an active participant in providing boxes. 

ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

Heart House for the Homeless
At Heart House, the local shelter for those facing homelessness, we play games, make crafts, and read stories to the children. We also help with meals and gifts at holidays throughout the year. Once a month, we prepare and serve dinner and lead a fun activity for the Heart House residents.

YES Home youth

Once a month, we spend time creating arts and crafts with the kids of YES Home.  We also provide "goody bags" throughout the year, full of items the youth need and want.

Mountain Mission and Love Packages

We collect used Christian books, clothing and household goods for these two faith-based, non-profit organizations. Mountain Mission helps families and individuals in the Kanawha Valley with unexpected financial and in-kind needs, while Love Packages collects and ships recycled Christian literature to people around the world who have never heard of Christ. ​

Abraham's Blessings water wells

These photos are from the celebration of the water well built in Kenya by Abraham's Blessing, thanks to financial donations by Tanner Valley UMC. This project was part of our Faith Promise mission work for 2023. For more information about Abraham's Blessing visit abmissions.org
